Covid 19 Updates

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, and you may have seen this during your dental visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Dental Association® (ADA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issues. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next dental appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. Some of these changes include:

  • You will be asked COVID-19 questions when you first enter the office. The front desk staff will also be taking your temperature before you can see the dentist.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some throughout the office for you to use as needed.
  • You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, as these items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
  • Our office is equipped with a germicidal ultraviolet air purifier that services the whole office.
  • Our office is equipped with a germicidal ultraviolet air purifier that services the whole office.
  • Each operatory has a HEPA filter designed for a space four times the space of the room.
  • We are also incorporating an extraoral dental suction system that will remove a high volume of droplets and aerosols produced during certain dental treatments.
  • The entire office is “fogged” each night with hypocaloric acid spray (HOCL). In addition to the normal wipe down of all solid surfaces in the operatories, they are also fogged with hypocaloric acid spray (HOCL). This is the same method used to sanitize airline cabins between flights.
  • Two hanging sneeze guards have been placed at the front desk for your protection.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your dental appointment.
  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as reducing the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
  • McFarland Dental staff members have a COVID-19 screening and temperature taken upon entering the building every day. Staff will always be seen with a facial shield, mask or both while working with patients.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you safe in our practice.
